# Overband and suspension magnets

Hung above the belt, the magnet lifts nails, bolts and tramp iron out of the burden before it reaches crushers, screens or the stockpile.

## Specification

- **Types:** Overband (self-cleaning belt) and suspended plate (hand-cleaned)
- **Fits:** Above conveyor belts, in-line or across the head pulley
- **Sizing:** Belt width, speed, burden depth and hanging height
- **Field / reach:** Contact for spec — calculated for your hanging height
- **Power:** Overband needs a belt motor; plate types need none
- **Applications:** Recycling, aggregates, quarry, wood, bulk handling

## FAQ

**Overband or suspended plate?** Overband types have a running belt that carries iron away continuously, so they suit heavier, constant loads. Plate types are cheaper and cleaned by hand, so they suit lighter loads.
**What do you need to quote?** Belt width, belt speed, burden depth, the gap from magnet to burden, the material and the size of iron to remove. A photo of the conveyor helps.
**How strong is it?** Reach matters more than surface gauss. We size the magnet for your hanging height and burden; ask for the specification.
**Can I see it working?** Yes. Our separators page has a strength test video of a suspension magnet.
**Do you supply the frame and chains?** Mounting is discussed at quotation. Tell us your structure and space.
**Is a magnetic pulley better?** A head pulley magnet suits shallow burdens and ferrous splitting; an overband suits deeper burdens. See magnetic pulleys.
